Two Wildcats Named To All-American Team

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Two members of the Northern Michigan University hockey team were named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA)/Reebok All-American Ice Hockey West Team for the 2009-10 season.  Mark Olver was a first team selection as a forward while teammate Erik Gustafsson was named to the second team as one of the defensemen.   Gustafsson was a second team pick last year and is the only repeat selection to the squad. 
Olver led the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) for the 2009-10 season in scoring with 35 points on 17 goals and 18 assists in 27 games. His goals were tops in conference action. Olver ended the 2009-10 season with a team-high 49 points on 19 goals and 30 assists. He was a first team selection to the CCHA All-Conference Team and was a Top 10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
Gustafsson was named the CCHA Best Offensive Defenseman for the 2009-10 campaign, for the second consecutive season. He led the CCHA in defenseman scoring with 22 points on a goal and 21 assists and was second in assists in conference games. Overall he finished the 2009-10 season with three goals, 29 assists for 32 points. Gustafsson was also a first team selection to the CCHA All-Conference Team for the past season.
