MARQUETTE, Mich. – After eight years as the Northern Michigan University cheerleading advisor, LeAnn Saarela has resigned her position with the Wildcats.   “My eight years coaching have been wonderful and provided me with memories that I will always cherish,” said Saarela. “However, at this point in my life I feel I need to have more time to spend with my family and students at Westwood High School.” Saarela was a cheerleader at NMU during her four years while a student at NMU.
“We want to thank LeAnn for all of her contributions to NMU Athletics and wish her continued good luck in the future,” said Ken Godfrey, the NMU Athletic Director/Special Assistant to the President.
