MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University hockey team (19-11-8, 13-9-6-3 CCHA) faces the Ferris State University Bulldogs in the first semifinal game at the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Championship Friday afternoon (March 19). Action gets underway with the puck dropping at 4:35 p.m.
Miami faces Michigan in the second semifinal of the day at 8:05 p.m. The third-place game is set for Saturday (March 20) at 3:35 p.m. If the Wildcats would defeat Ferris State they would play in the CCHA Championship Game Saturday with face-off set for 7:35 p.m.
The Point (100.3 FM) will carry all the games from Detroit. FS Detroit will broadcast the ‘Cats game Friday and the CCHA Championship Game Saturday.
During the regular season the ‘Cats recorded a shootout and a regulation time win over the Bulldogs. NMU is making its third consecutive appearance at Joe Louis Arena for the CCHA Championship.
The NMU volleyball team will kick off its spring schedule Saturday (March 20) against Lake Superior State at 1 p.m. in Vandament Arena. First up on the day is a match of the NMU alumni against the current team at 11 a.m. At 3 p.m. the Lakers of Lake Superior State will face the NMU alumni. Tickets are $5 and are available from any current volleyball player or at the door. The ticket is good for all the matches that day as the proceeds will support the NMU volleyball team in their 2010 championship quest.
Later that day the volleyball ‘Cats will have a team banquet, honoring the team and seniors, at 6:30 p.m., in the Wildcat Room of the Berry Events Center. The event is open to the public as the team is accepting donations for the banquet.
