HOUGHTON, Mich. – The first day of the NCAA Central Regional Cross Country Skiing Championships is in the books. The Northern Michigan University men’s Nordic ski team had two of the top three skiers in the 10K classic race and three in the top 10 to take team honors. NMU recorded 80 points with Michigan Tech second (76).
Chris Bowler led the Wildcats with a second-place showing (29:58.9) edging out teammate George Cartwright (29:59.2). Kevin Cutts was the third ‘Cat in the top10 as he finished in eighth place (30:32.4). Tim Cook was 20th in the event as he crossed the finish line with a time of 31:52.3. He was followed by Ben Hugus 24th-place showing (32:23.4). 
The second day of the regional championships will be Sunday (Feb. 21) with the freestyle race.
