ISHPEMING, Mich. – Sunday the Northern Michigan University men’s Nordic ski team placed three skiers in the top 10 and captured team honors at the Central College Ski Association (CCSA) Championships. The Wildcats recorded 73 points in the 20K freestyle event which was one point better than second place Michigan Tech (72). For the weekend the men were second after totaling the points from the classic and freestyle races with 150 point, Michigan Tech took team honors (155).
Kevin Cutts led the NMU contingent with a third-place showing in the freestyle race. He covered the course in a time of 50:56.4. George Cartwright (51:18.0) was next for NMU in seventh place. Chris Bowler was the third ‘Cat in the top 10 as he was 10th with a time of 51:31.1.
Tim Cook (53:29.2) and Ben Hugus (53:43.4) were the next two skiers for NMU to cross the finish line 18th and 19th respectively. Tom McFadden (55:29.9) was the final ‘Cat in the race as he was 30th.
NMU is in action next at the NCAA Regional Championships this weekend (Feb. 20-21) in Houghton, Mich.
