ISHPEMING, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s Nordic ski team had three skiers in the top 10 during the first day of competition at the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships Saturday in the 10K classic. As a team the Wildcats scored 77 points which was good for second place as the Huskies of Michigan Tech had 83 to claim first.
George Cartwright led the ‘Cats with a second-place showing as he broke the tape with a time of 27:09.9. He was followed by Kevin Cutts sixth (27:42.5) and Chris Bowler eighth (27:47.0). Ben Hugus with a time of 28:30.6 was 18th as Tim Cook 21st (28:41.7) and Tom McFadden crossed the finish line with a time of 29:04.6 for 23rd.
Sunday’s event is the 20K freestyle for the men.
