DETROIT, Mich. – Friday is in the books at the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Swimming and Diving Championships currently being held at Wayne State University. The Wildcats entering the final day of competition tomorrow are in eighth place with 162 points. Wayne State continues to lead the women’s side of the meet with 652 points.
Lindsay Stedman placed 13th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:55.28. Olga Budiansky swam in the big finals of the 100 breaststroke as she concluded the race with a time of 1:18.30 for eighth place. Ana Alzaga swam in the finals of the 100 backstroke as she touched the wall with a time of 59.58 for eighth place. Teammate Ashley Backman was 14th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.56.
The 1-meter diving event saw NMU’s Kelli Vander Baan score 348.40 points for seventh place. Alison Black placed 10th on the 1-meter with 331.40 points.
The final event of the day was the 800 freestyle relay as Kelsey Sipple, Sarah Cempel, Michele Kolin and Stedman swam a time of 8:10.21 for eighth place.
The championships wrap up tomorrow (Feb. 13) at Wayne State.
