FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – For the third time this season Brian Stewart has been named the Reebok Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Goaltender of the Week. He was selected for his performance against Ferris State over the weekend. Stewart stopped 94-of-97 shots he faced over the two games.
Saturday night he recorded a career-high 51 saves for his third shutout of the season and ninth of his career in the 4-0 win. Stewart is now second on the all-time list behind Craig Kowalski’s 12 career shutouts. Friday night he had 43 saves in a tie/shootout win over the Bulldogs (3-3). Stewart registered a 1.44 goal-against average and a .969 save-percentage against the Bulldogs. As a team the Wildcats picked up five of a possible six points against Ferris State.
Stewart is currently 10-8-7 on the season with a 2.57 goal-against average and a .923 save-percentage. He also was named the Reebok CCHA Goaltender of the Week Nov. 23 and Jan. 4.
