CABLE, Wis. – The Northern Michigan University women’s Nordic ski team claimed the team title with 84 points Saturday in the 5K classic race at the Telemark SuperTour race. Michigan Tech was second (75) with UW-Green Bay third (59).
Laura DeWitt took the collegiate race with a time of 17:30.8. NMU had four other skiers in the top 10. Christina Gillis was third (17:40.4) as she was followed by Marie Helen Soderman fifth (17:49.4), Monica Markvardsen seventh (18:10.2) and Caitlin Cassidy 10th (18:45.7). 
Libby Ellis with a time of 19:08.3 placed 16th with teammate Ingrid Fjeldheim next with a clocking of 19:09.3. Karmen Whitham covered the course in a time of 19:33.2 which was good for 21st. Anna Berglund was 22nd (19:40.6). Katherine Holway was the final NMU skier to cross the finish line as she had a time of 21:06.3 for a 42nd place finish.
The team will compete the second day of the event Sunday with the freestyle race.
