FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Two Northern Michigan University hockey players have been selected as Central Collegiate Hockey Association Players of the Week. Mark Olver was named the CCHA Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Brian Stewart was tabbed as the CCHA Reebok Goaltender of the Week.
Olver had a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Clarkson in the first game of the Dodge Holiday Classic. In the championship game at the classic, Olver recorded three assists in the 4-2 win over Minnesota. Olver was selected to the Dodge Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team. He had a part in five of the eight goals scored over the weekend. Currently for the season, Olver leads the team in goals (11) and points (26).
Stewart recorded his first shutout of the season and seventh of his career with the win over Clarkson. He turned away all 29 shots he faced. In the win over Minnesota, Stewart tied a career high with 48 saves. Stewart was named the MVP of the Dodge Holiday Classic. Presently for the season, Stewart is 7-6-3 with a 2.75 goal-against average and a .918 save-percentage.
