GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team after two days at the Calvin Winter Invitational are currently in seventh place with 52 points.
The 200-yard freestyle relay of Kelsey Sipple, Gena Haas, Ashley Backman and Lindsay Stedman swam a 1:45.20 which was good for 15th place. The NMU “B” relay of Jess Linnen, Michele Kolin, Jenny Gallagher and Lauren Cockels placed 19th (1:50.19). Backman then placed 19th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.77. Stedman picked up points for the ‘Cats in the 400 individual medley with a 15th–place showing (5:05.75). Two other NMU swimmers swan in the C-Final in the event as Stephanie Rogaczewski swam a 5:11.15 and Elyse Sawka finished the race with a time of 5:27.90.
Kelsey Sipple saw in the C-Final of the 50 freestyle as she had a time of 25.24. Ali Black on the 3-meter board placed seventh with 345.45 points.
This morning the 400 medley relay of Backman, Olga Budiansky, Haas and Sipple placed 14th with a time of 4:17.28.
The third and final day of the competition will be held tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 5).
