HANCOCK, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team defeated Finlandia Tuesday in its final tune-up before facing Northwood Thursday (Dec. 3) at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC) opener. NMU held a 47-23 lead at the half then pulled away in the second 20 minutes for a 76-47 win.
The Wildcats improve to 2-2 on the season while the Lions are 1-6. 
Christa Erickson led all scorers with 16 points. Nicole Grengs recorded a career-high 10 points in the win. After Thursday’s game the ‘Cats host Wayne State Saturday morning (Dec. 5 at 11 a.m.).
