Henry and Braddy Medal in Quebec Junior Championships

MARQUETTE – USOEC Weightlifters Allie Henry and Thomas Braddy won silver medals in the Quebec Junior Championships Nov. 28 in Quebec, Canada.

Henry, a Northern Michigan University sophomore from Altamonte, Fla., competed at 75 kilograms.  She successfully lifted 70 kg in the snatch and 86 kg in the clean and jerk and placed second overall with a total of 156 kg in her weight class.

NMU freshman Thomas Braddy (Macclenny, Fla.) placed second with a personal record of 302 kg total in the 105+ kg weight class. Braddy lifted 120 kg in the snatch and 182 kg in the clean and jerk.

USOEC weightlifting coach Andy Tysz said, “I think their performances were very good considering both of these athletes are in a developing state in their careers and it was their first international competition.”

Tysz also served as the head coach of the U.S.men’s and women’s teams at the event. “We came out good; each athlete got a medal and there were several silver and gold,” said Tysz.
