LANSING, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team won its only match Saturday at the GLVC-GLIAC Crossover Tournament. NMU defeated Drury in three straight (25-20, 25-11, 25-15) to end the weekend at 2-1. For the season the Wildcats are 14-8 overall.
NMU recorded a season-high hitting percentage of .409 on 45 kills in 88 total attempts. The ‘Cats only committed eight errors for the match. Amy Andersen-Goldsworthy and Emma Wolfe led the squad with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Each had a hitting percentage of over .600. Wolfe was at .667 percent with 15 total attempts and one error while Andersen-Goldsworthy was at .647 percent on the strength of 17 total attempts and one error.
Maddie Ogden led the ‘Cats with 36 assists and also added five digs. Katt Garvick had three of the eight service aces. The defensive effort was led by Cassie Osiecki and Becca Feuerherd with 11 and 10 digs respectively. At the net, NMU had four block solos and two block assists. Garvick, Ogden, Wolfe and Andersen-Goldsworthy each had a block solo. Meyer and Wolfe recorded the block assists.
NMU will be back at home this coming week for the first time in almost a month. The ‘Cats face Saginaw Valley State Friday (Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.) and Lake Superior State Saturday (Oct. 24 at 3 p.m.).
