MIDLAND, Mich. – The Northern Michigan volleyball team ran its record to 12-7 overall and 8-3 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play by picking up its sixth win in a row Saturday at Northwood. NMU won the four-set match (25-15, 17-25, 25-22, 25-22) as the Timberwolves fall to 6-13 overall and 4-7 in GLIAC play.
Amy Andersen-Goldsworthy led the ‘Cats today with 15 kills while teammate Mandie Meyer added 11. NMU recorded 52 kills for the match in 162 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .167. Northwood had 36 kills in 138 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .080. NMU’s side out percentage in the third and fourth sets were 60 (143-23) and 59 (13-22) percent respectively. Four of the ‘Cats five service aces came from Katt Gravick and Meyer with two each.
Cassie Osiecki had a match-high 20 digs while Rachel Green and Meyer added 11 each. Garvick led the ‘Cats at the net with three block assists and a block solo. Sami Vierk recorded the other block solo. Maddie Ogden had 41 assists to pace the ‘Cats.
Next weekend (Oct. 16-17) the ‘Cats are at the GLVC-GLIAC Crossover Tournament in Lansing, Mich.
