TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University Dragons took it to the Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team Sunday afternoon in Ohio. TU scored two unanswered goals before the Wildcats cut into the lead just to see the home team add another score for the 3-1 win.
With the loss the ‘Cats fall to 5-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. TU improves to 3-3-2 and 3-2-2 respectively.
Ashley Davis opened the scoring for the home team with a goal at 19:06 on an assist from Danielle Eaken. TU made it 2-0 with a goal at 47:22 by Shelly Rogers on an assist from Ashley Davis. NMU got on the board at 61:50 when Joanna Kiilunen scored her third goal of the season, unassisted for a 2-1 game. Davis added a goal of her own at 62:29 for the final score.
Kara Music in goal for the ‘Cats had seven saves. NMU had a slight shot edge at 15-13 as seven of the ‘Cats shots were on-goal. TU had more corner kicks than the ‘Cats with six to four for NMU.
NMU will be home next week to face Grand Valley State Friday (Oct. 9) at 4 p.m. and the Ferris State Bulldogs Sunday (Oct. 11) at noon.
