FINDLAY, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team need a little extra time in its first game on its Ohio weekend swing. NMU tied the University of Findlay Oilers Friday afternoon in the Flag City 1-1 in double overtime. The Wildcats are now 5-4-1 overall on the season and 3-2-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. UF is now 4-4-1 and 3-2-1 respectively.
The Oilers got on the board first on a goal by Sara Jones at 17:54. Dana Stephens kicked home her team-leading sixth goal of the season with a minute and some change left in regulation (88:28). NMU outshot the Oilers in the extra time with a 7-0 ledger. For the game, NMU had a 19-16 shot advantage. The ‘Cats had 10 shots on-goal while the Oilers had six for the game.
Corner kicks were in favor of the visitors at 4-3. Kara Music had five saves for the game.
NMU will travel down the road to face the Tiffin Dragons Sunday (Oct. 4 at noon) for its next game.
