Wildcats Picked Fifth In Both CCHA Polls

 

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University hockey team was selected fifth in both Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) preseason polls.  NMU collected 85 total votes and one first-place vote in the coaches poll while collecting 502 votes in the media poll.
For the first time in four years, the coaches and media both selected the same team to finish in first place.  The Wolverines took five of a possible 11 first-place votes in the coaches poll, five seconds and one third-place vote for a total of 114.  Notre Dame was picked second in both polls with four first-place votes in the coaches poll as well as four seconds and three thirds for 111. Miami was third with two first-place votes (104) and Ohio State fourth in the coaches poll with a total of 90 votes.
Members of the media also picked Michigan with 731 votes, 24 coming in first-place votes. Notre Dame was next with 712 votes, 20 first-place votes. Miami was third with 707 votes (20 first-place) and Ohio State fourth (one first-place) with 547.   
The media members ranked the 12 CCHA teams in projected order of finish for the regular season.  Points were awarded on a 12-11-10-9, etc., basis. League coaches ranked CCHA teams, excluding their own school, in the order they predicted the regular season will end.
