KENOSHA, Wis. – The Northern Michigan University women’s cross country team ranked seventh in this week’s NCAA Division II regional rankings placed ninth at the Midwest Collegiate Cross Country Championships held at UW-Parkside Saturday. NMU tallied 250 points while the University of Louisville won the event with 43 points. Five NCAA Division I teams placed ahead of the ‘Cats in the team standings. “It was a good day, but not a great day,” said Jenny Ryan, NMU head cross country coach.
Bibiane Mahy was the first ‘Cat to cross the finish line with a time of 19:30.5 which was good for 39th. Jenny Wiedmeyer with a time of 19:33.8 was 43rd. About 16 seconds later, Olivia Juntila was the next NMU runner in 54th place with a time of 19:49.0. Nora Kiilunen in 56th (19:57.0) was next for NMU. Three second s later Sarah Allen crossed the finish line with a 20:00.5 for 58th. The final two runners for NMU were Rita Woitas (20:13.0) and Cara Crawford (20:15.0) in 70th and 72nd place respectively.
The ‘Cats are back at it next Saturday (Sept. 26) at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota.
