ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team kept it close for the first 45 minutes of play Friday afternoon against the fourth ranked Grand Valley State Lakers. Trailing 1-0 after the first half the home team scored three second half goals to take the game 4-0. NMU falls to 3-3-0 overall on the season and 1-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The Lakers improve to 5-0-1 and 2-0 respectively.
Jaleen Dingledine scored the lone first half goal for Grand Valley State. The Lakers added goals by Irie Dennis, Ashley Botts and Erin Hilbert in the second half. Grand Valley State out-shot NMU by a 22-8 margin. The Wildcats managed three shots on-goal for the game. Corner kicks were also in favor of the home team at 7-3. Kara Music recorded 10 saves in goal for the ‘Cats.
After taking a day off NMU will face Ferris State Sunday (Sept. 20) in Big Rapids, Mich.
