MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports will be hosting the Fall Sports Kickoff Saturday, Sept. 12 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in front of the Superior Dome before the football game against the Tiffin University Dragons. The public is invited to join the free fun, free food and free entertainment before the game. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. NMU received the NCAA Division II Community Engagement Award of Excellence for 2008 for hosting this event.
Activities will include pony rides, inflatable games, a dunk tank, clowns and carnival games. The NMU Marching Band along with Wildcat Willy will be on hand.    Also Marquette fire trucks, Marquette General Hospital EMS and NMU student-athletes and coaches will be there. Commemorative photos will be taken for those interested. NMU student organizations will have informational booths.
The community engagement spotlight will benefit the United Way of Marquette County. NMU Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports along with Econo Foods, TCF Campus Banking, TV-6, The Mining Journal and The Point (100.3 FM) are partners in this community engagement event.
