INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team used a goal in each half to take its season-opener 2-1 over St. Joseph’s Friday afternoon. NMU had the shot advantage for the game with a 19-3 count.
NMU’s Amelia Johnson opened up the scoring with a goal at 40:41 of the first half. St. Joseph’s scored on an own goal by NMU. The ball was passed back to NMU’s keeper and the ball went by her at 56:00. Missy Mohr sliding kick goal at 69:50 was the final margin.
Kara Music in goal for the Wildcats recorded two saves on the day. NMU had 12 corner kick to none for St. Joseph’s.
NMU will stay in Indy to face the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds Sunday (Aug. 30) at noon.
