Green Team Downs Gold Team

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Monday night at Vandament Arena the Northern Michigan University volleyball team played its annual Green and Gold Match. The green team dropped the first set (22-25) before rattling off three in a row to take the match (25-19, 25-18, 25-19).
Emma Wolfe and Mandie Meyer led the green team with 15 and 10 kills respectively. Newcomer Andree Ring led the gold team with eight kills. As a team the green team had 44 kills in 116 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .190 while the gold team had 35 kills in 103 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .097. 
Abby Lovell had 36 assists for the green team while Maddie Ogden chipped in with 22 for the gold team.
Meyer and Wolfe led everyone with three service aces each. Ring led all players on the defensive front with 13 digs while Becca Feuerherd had 11 for the green team. Wolfe at the net had four block solos and one block assist. As a team the green team had six block solos and two block assists. 
This weekend the Wildcats begin for real. NMU will host the Wildcat Open beginning Thursday night (Aug. 27) when the ‘Cats host Wisconsin-Parkside at 7 p.m. Friday (Aug. 28) NMU will face St. Cloud State at 1 p.m. and then Winona State at 7 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 29) the ‘Cats host Minnesota-Duluth at 7 p.m. Other teams competing in the tournament: Lake Superior State, Michigan Tech, UC-San Diego.
