NMU Volleyball Team Earns AVCA Academic Award
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team has been selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as a recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2008-09 season. NMU was one of 46 NCAA Division II women’s teams selected. To be considered for the award a team must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
NMU had a team grade-point average of 3.37. The award which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year. A total of 409 teams earned the award for the 2008-09 season.
