MARQUETTE— United States Olympic Education Center weightlifters medaled at the U.S. National Championships in Chicago.
“I feel they did a great job and they all lifted well,” head coach Andy Tysz said. “The results show how well they did. They handled the pressure of being in an international meet.”
Northern Michigan University sophomore Sarah Robles (Desert Hot Springs, Calif.) competed at 75+ kilograms and earned gold at National Championships. She lifted 97 kg in the snatch and 129 kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 226 kg.
“With Sarah winning Nationals [Championships] and only turning 21 this year, it shows that she has a big future ahead of her.” Tysz said.
NMU graduate student Collin Ito (Vista, Calif.) earned a bronze medal at 105+ kg. He lifted 151 kg in the snatch and 192 kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 343 kg.
