MARQUETTE, Mich. – Bailey Franklin has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women’s Co-Freshman of the Year for outdoor track. She shares the award with Raven Clay from the University of Findlay.
Franklin, from River Falls, Wis., won the triple jump at the recently concluded GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a school-record leap of 37-03.00. She was second in the heptathlon with 4,010 points, four points out of first place. Franklin also placed sixth in the long jump (17-02.25).
Earlier in the year at the GLIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Franklin captured the triple jump with a Northern Michigan University record-setting measurement of 36-05.00. She placed third in the pentathlon with 3,173 points (new NMU record). Franklin tied for sixth in the high jump (5-03.25) and was eighth in the long jump (16-11.50).
