MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports Department in conjunction with the Detroit Pistons are offering the Detroit Pistons Basketball Camp July 20-23 (Monday-Thursday) on the NMU campus. The four-day camp is open to boys and girls in grades 1-11. Each daily session will run from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. For your convenience, a 30 minute early drop-off/open shoot around is available.
Campers will be instructed in basketball fundamentals such as ball handling, defense, passing, rebounding and shooting. Daily contests such as hot shot, knock-out and beat-the-pro will be held for trophies and prizes. Each day campers will compete in five-on-five games with players of similar age and skill level. Occasionally members of the Pistons family make appearances at the camp.
For $179 each camper will receive an authentic reversible Pistons basketball jersey, one free ticket to a Pistons home game and a Pistons basketball. Discounts are available for early sign-up (May 15 deadline), first-time campers and for returning campers. Space is limited to 150 players.
At the conclusion of camp the staff will honor four campers with trophies for the Best Attitude, Hustle, Most Improved Player and Most Valuable Player. Other benefits of the camp includes the courtside experience at The Palace (with the free ticket) where each camper can sit courtside and watch pregame shoot around, take a family photo and shoot a shot on the court. Campers’ families are able to purchase additional game tickets and merchandise at special “camper-only” prices.
