Erik Gustafsson Named A Second Team All-American
MARQUETTE, Mich. – Erik Gustafsson was named to the 2008-09 Reebok/ACHA Division I Ice Hockey All-American Team. He was a second team selection to the West Team. Gustafsson was one of two sophomores named to the second team along with Cater Camper of Miami.
The Kvissleby, Sweden native was a first-team All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) selection for the 2008-09 season and was also named the CCHA’s Best Offensive Defenseman for the past season. He led the Wildcats in assists (30) and tied for second on the team in points (34). Gustafsson also recorded four goals.
For the 2008-09 season he tied for second in the conference with 22 assists in CCHA action. Gustafsson led all CCHA defensemen with 25 points (3-22). Nationally, Gustafsson ended the 2008-09 season ranked 10th in defensemen scoring with 34 points (4-30).
Since 2005, Gustafsson is the fourth Wildcat to be named an All-American. He joins Tuomas Tarkki, Nathan Oystrick and Mike Santorelli on the list.
