MARQUETTE – Three members of the United States Olympic Education Center’s weightlifting team will compete in the National Collegiate Championships April 17-19 in Shreveport, La.

            Northern Michigan University seniors Collin Ito (Vista, Calif.) and Justin Brimhall (Miami, Fla.) will compete in the 105+- and 77-kilogram weight classes, respectively. Freshmen Jessica Gallagher (Longwood, Fla.) will compete in the 63-kg weight class.

Head coach Andy Tysz has a positive outlook for the event.

            “Everyone has been training well and looking very healthy,” said Tysz. “This event is not going to be a giveaway and there is going to be some stiff competition. However, I expect all three of them to make it to the podium.”  

            Next up for the USOEC weightlifting team will be the National Senior Championships June 4-7 in Chicago, Ill.
