Volleyball Is A Perfect 11
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball squad ran its record to a perfect 11-0 on the spring with five wins at the UW-Green Bay Spring Fling over the weekend. NMU defeated all of its opponents by the same 2-0 count. The Wildcats defeated Michigan Tech (25-19, 25-18), UW-Oshkosh (25-21, 25-13), UW-Green Bay (25-19, 25-13), UW-Parkside (25-12, 25-14) and the UW-Green Bay alumni team (25-13, 25-11).
Mandie Meyer led the ‘Cats on the weekend with 32 kills. She had eight kills in each of the matches against UW-Oshkosh and the UW-GB alumni team. Katt Garvick added 28 kills on the weekend while Emma Wolfe had 20. Meyer also added 10 service aces. Madeline Ogden had 94 of the 109 assists over the five matches.
Rebecca Feuerherd led the ‘Cats with 41 digs in the five matches over the weekend. Emma Wolfe and Ogden led the team at the net with 11 and 10 total blocks respectively. Wolfe tallied three solo and eight assisted blocks. Ogden recorded four solo and six assisted blocks.
Currently for the spring two ‘Cats have over 80 kills as Meyer leads the way with 86 and Katt Garvick has 80. Ogden has 227 assists. Meyer has a team-high 15 service aces while Feuerherd has 127 digs to pace the squad. Wolfe has 28 total blocks (five solo and 23 assisted) in the 11 matches over the spring to lead the ‘Cats.
NMU will play its final match of the spring this Saturday (April 11) at UM-Duluth.
