MARQUETTE, Mich. – Two student-athletes are competing this week at the Florida State University Relays in Tallahassee, Fla. Also competing this week are the Northern Michigan University soccer, volleyball and golf teams.
Leslie Luehmann and Krista Squiers from the track team will be competing at the FSU Relays. Luehmann will compete in the heptathlon beginning Thursday, March 26 while Squiers will be competing in the hammer throw. Friday, March 27, Luehmann will conclude the heptathlon while Squiers will compete in the javelin. The final day of the relays, Saturday, March 28, Luehmann and Squiers will be in field events as they will be competing in the triple jump and discus respectively. Luehmann will also run in the 100-meter high hurdles.
The women’s soccer team is hosting the NMU Dome Games Saturday and Sunday (March 28-29). NMU will face Sault Ste. Marie Thunder at 11 a.m. and Windsor Eastside Kickers at 5 p.m. Saturday. Sunday the Wildcats will kick it against Michigan Tech at 2 p.m. and then the NMU club team at 4 p.m.
The NMU volleyball squad coming off two wins at home last week against Michigan Tech and Lake Superior take to the road to play at the Eastern Michigan University Spring Tourney. All the matches will be on Saturday (March 28). NMU will face from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Saginaw Valley at 10:30 a.m. and Northwood at 3:30 p.m. The ‘Cats also face Eastern Michigan at 11:30 a.m. and the EMU Alumni team at 1:30 p.m.
The NMU men’s golf team tees it off for the spring portion of its schedule this week. NMU will take to the links at the Ashland Invitational Saturday and Sunday (March 28-29).
