BETHEL, Maine – The three Northern Michigan University men’s Nordic skiers competed in the 10K classic race today at the 2009 NCAA Skiing Championships. Today’s race was the first of the two Nordic competitions during the championships. After the women’s and men’s giant slalom and the classic races (women and men) the Wildcats sit in 11th place with 105.0 points. The championships is a combined point total. Denver leads the team scores with 330.0 points.
The first Wildcat to skate across the finish line was Martin Stuge Banerud with a time of 25:16.5 in 15th place. Phil Violett was next in 25th with a time of 25:40.5. The final NMU skier was Justin Singleton in 35th as he had a time of 26:28.6.
Saturday (March 14) the men will race in the 20K freestyle race.
