Wildcats To Face Huskies In GLIAC Tournament

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team will travel to Michigan Tech Tuesday (March 3) to face the Huskies in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women’s Basketball Tournament.  Action gets underway at 6 p.m. The Wildcats are in the tournament for the first time in Troy Mattson’s tenure as head coach. NMU has been absent from the tournament since the 2004-05 season. 
The game can be heard on The Point (100.3 FM) as well as streamed on the NMU athletic web site (http://webb.nmu.edu/SportsAthletics/).
NMU (14-13, 9-13 GLIAC) enters the tournament as the eighth seed while MTU (22-5, 19-3 GLIAC) is the top seed. The Huskies defeated the Wildcats twice this season. In the first meeting in Houghton on Dec. 13 the score was 74-43 then a couple of weeks later in Marquette (Jan. 3) NMU was defeated 69-60.
