MARQUETTE, Mich. – It will be a busy weekend for NMU Wildcat Hockey fans. The hockey ‘Cats are hosting the Alaska Nanooks on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23-24, at the Berry Events Center as the puck will drop both nights at 7:35 p.m. This series is the first home Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series for the NMU hockey team (6-13-3, 3-10-3-2 CCHA) since hosting Ferris State (Nov. 28-29).
Friday’s events (Jan. 23) will begin with the Blue Line Club Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. in the University Center which will serve as a preview to the weekend series against the Alaska Nanooks. The luncheon is open to the public and the cost is $8.50 per person. NMU head coach Walt Kyle is expected to speak along with selected Wildcats. There will be a pre-game Blue Line/Wildcat Club Social in the Wildcat Room before the NMU-Alaska hockey game that night.
The NMU Student-Athlete Training Organization will be holding a hockey equipment drive on Friday and Saturday at the Berry Events Center. Donations can be dropped off at the SATO table on the Northwest side of the concourse during the game. Items which can be donated include: helmets, pads and gloves.
Following Saturday’s game (Jan. 24) the Blue Line Club will host a fourth period reception at the Landmark Inn. The reception is open to the public and is sponsored by the Landmark Inn, Bob and Kathy Cowell, and Hyde and Swajanen, P.C.
