BAY CITY, Mich. – Senior guard Kelsey Deacon (Green Bay, Wis.) of the Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team has been named this week’s Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week. She led the Wildcats to a pair of victories last week against Tiffin and Ashland.
Against the Dragons, Deacon led all scorers with 22 points as she also had eight rebounds, four assists and a steal in 39 minutes of play. Two days later against the Eagles she tied a career-high with 29 points as she also had five assists and two steals in 40 minutes of action.
For the season she is averaging a team-high 15.2 ppg, which ranks her sixth overall in the conference and leads the team with 42 assists (3.2 apg). From the free throw line, Deacon is 45-48 (.938) which places her second overall in the GLIAC.
