MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Northern Michigan University announces the Athletes of the Month for November. Marc Renelique from the men’s basketball team was selected as the Male Athlete of the Month while Ashley Oliver from the women’s swimming and diving team was named the Female Athlete of the Month.
Renelique from Montreal, Quebec averaged over 17 points a game for the month. Against UM-Duluth on Nov. 16 he had a career-high 25 points as he was 8-17 from the floor which included 6-13 in three-pointers and was perfect from the free throw line (3-3). Against the Bulldogs he also had four assists for a career high. Renelique had 17 points against Finlandia (Nov. 24), 14 against Northland Baptist (Nov. 15) and 13 against Alma (Nov. 22).
Oliver from Ironwood, Mich. won two events during the month in three meets. She won the 100-yard backstroke against UW-Oshkosh on Nov. 8 with a time of 1:04.60 and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay against Hillsdale (Nov. 22) as the tandem swam a 1:51.82. Also against the Chargers, Oliver had second-place finishes in the 200 backstroke (2:17.75) and was a member of the 200 medley relay (1:59.89). Oliver was fourth in the 100 (1:04.61) and 200 backstroke (2:18.58) events at the Kiefer Fall Classic (Nov. 1).
