MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University hockey team (3-10-3, 2-9-3-2 CCHA) will host the USNTDP U-18 team in an exhibition game on Saturday (Dec. 13) at 7:35 p.m. Saturday’s game will not be available on The Point (100.3 FM).
During the first intermission the annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place. Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to the game to toss onto the ice. All teddy bears will be collected by members of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and donated to Toys for Tots.
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
Men’s and women’s basketball will be on the road Saturday (Dec. 13) at Michigan Tech. The women’s team (4-2, 0-2 GLIAC) is still in search of its first conference win of the season. While the men’s team (5-1, 1-1 GLIAC) will face the Huskies in the second game of the doubleheader. The women’s game gets it all started at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game set for approximately 7:30 p.m. Both games can be heard on The Point.
The men’s team will host Northland College on Monday (Dec. 15) at 7:30 p.m.
Men’s and women’s Nordic skiing will participate at the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Holiday Invitational in Ironwood, Mich. Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 13-14).
