MARQUETTE, Mich. – Saturday, Nov. 22 will be a busy day at Northern Michigan University as four events will be going on. Men’s and women’s basketball, swimming and diving and hockey all have home events.
To kick off the weekend there will be a Blue Line Luncheon on Friday, Nov. 21 at 11:45 a.m. in the Michigan/Ontario rooms of the University Center. The cost is $8.50 per person and is open to the public. NMU head coach Walt Kyle and Ohio State coach John Markell are scheduled to speak. Also selected Wildcats will be in attendance.
The luncheon will serve as a preview to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series between the Wildcats and Buckeyes. NMU (2-7-1, 1-6-1-0 CCHA) is looking to snap its seven-game winless streak. The puck will drop both nights (Nov. 21-22) at 7:35 p.m.
Saturday (Nov. 22) will be a busy one. The NMU swimming and diving team will host Hillsdale College at 11 a.m. at the PEIF Pool. Over in the Berry Events Center the NNU women’s basketball team (1-0) will hit the court against Marygrove also at 11 a.m. to begin a tripleheader. The game is the home opener for the women’s team. After the women’s game is over the NMU men’s basketball team (2-0) will face Alma College at 1 p.m. After a couple of hours to change the floor over from basketball to hockey the ‘Cats face the Buckeyes in the second game of the weekend series (7:35 p.m.).
Volleyball (20-11) received a selection to the NCAA II Midwest Region Volleyball Tournament. The ‘Cats face the University of Indianapolis in the third match of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. Grand Valley State is the host of the event. The semifinal matches would be Saturday (Nov. 22) at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 23) would be the championship match at 7 p.m.
To extend the weekend a little bit more the men’s and women’s basketball teams are hosting Finlandia on Monday (Nov. 24). The women’s game is first at 5:30 p.m. which will be followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.### NMU ###
