MARQUETTE, Mich. – Men’s basketball will take over the Berry Events Center this weekend. The men’s cagers open up the 2008-09 season on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. against Northland Baptist. Sunday, Nov. 16 the ‘Cats face the Bulldogs of Minnesota-Duluth at 1 p.m.
Volleyball (20-10) will face Saginaw Valley State University in the second semifinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Volleyball Tournament on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 7:30 p.m. If the ‘Cats would win they would play in the championship match on Sunday (Nov. 16) at 4 p.m. The Cardinals defeated the ‘Cats twice during the regular season by the same 3-1 score. The tournament is being hosted at Grand Valley State University. GVSU will play the Wayne State Warriors in the first semifinal match on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The NMU hockey team (2-5-1, 1-4-1 CCHA) is on the road this weekend at Bowling Green State University. The ‘Cats have yet to win on Saturday night this season. The puck will drop both nights (Nov. 14-15) at 7:05 p.m.
Also opening its 2008-09 campaign this weekend will be the women’s basketball team. The ‘Cats are at Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 2 p.m.
