Soccer 'Cats End Season At Ferris

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Ferris State defeated the Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women’s Soccer Tournament Tuesday.  The Bulldogs scored two goals in the second 45 minutes to take the contest 2-0. Ferris defeated the Wildcats in all three meetings this season in shutouts (1-0, 3-0 and 2-0). The ‘Cats end the season at 11-9-1 while the Bulldogs advance in the GLIAC Tournament with a 9-8-1 slate.
After a scoreless first half the Bulldogs found the back of the net twice in the second half. Both goals came within seconds of each other. A little over six minutes into the half, Maegan Smith gave Ferris the 1-0 lead with a goal at 46:18. Twenty-one seconds later Tammy Unsworth made the count 2-0 (46:39).
Kara Music had eight saves for the day. Ferris had the advantage on shots (21-16), but corner kicks were even at five.
