UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saturday afternoon at Saginaw Valley State the Cardinals defeated the Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball squad in four sets (23-25, 25-18, 16-25, 22-25). .The loss drops the Wildcats record to 16-9 overall and 10-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Saginaw Valley improves to 19-65 overall and 9-4 in conference play.
S a team the ‘Cats had 52 kills in 166 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .145. Mandie Meyer had 18 of the kills in 49 total attempts. Teammate Katt Garvick had 11 kills in 25 total attempts as her hitting percentage was .360. Madeline Ogden assed the rock 42 times and added 10 digs.
Also on the defensive front, Meyer added 24 digs while Cassie Osiecki had 23. At the net the ‘Cats only had six block assists for the match. Three of the block assists went to Emma Wolfe.
NMU will be home this coming week against U.P.. rival Michigan Tech on Friday (Oct. 31) afternoon at 6 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 1) the ‘Cats go out of conference to face Urbana University.
