INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After defeating two top 25 teams Friday at the GLVC-GLIAC Crossover Tournament the Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team lost to Southern Indiana on Saturday in five sets (25-15, 25-19, 24-26, 15-25, 12-15). The ‘Cats are now 15-8 on the season.
Four ‘Cats had over 10 kills for the match. Daniela Bezerra, Caryn VanBeckum and Mandie Meyer each had 16. Emma Wolfe added 11. As a team, NMU had a better hitting percentage than Southern Indiana. The ‘Cats had 67 kills in 170 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .218. Madeline Ogden had a career-high 58 assists. Meyer (19), Cassie Osiecki (18) and Rebecca Feuerherd (16) led the ‘cats on the defensive end in digs.
At the net VanBeckum had a block solo and four block assists. Wolfe added five block assists.
NMU is back in conference action next week with matches at Lake Superior (Oct. 24) and Saginaw Valley State (Oct. 25).
