Soccer Drops Third Straight

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team dropped its third game in a row Sunday afternoon at Ferris State. Three second half goals by the Bulldogs sank the ‘Cats on the pitch for the final score of 3-0. The Wildcats have not scored a goal since a 2-0 win over Findlay on Oct. 3. With the loss the ‘Cats are now 7-8 overall and 3-6 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Ferris improves to 5-6-1 and 4-4-1 respectively.
Maegan Smith scored the first two goals for the Bulldogs.   Her first goal was at 46:56 then she added another marker at 51:08. With Ferris leading 2-0, Nicole Vick scored for the final margin at 74:33.
NMU had a four-shot advantage over the Bulldogs at 18-14. Nine of NMU’s kicks were on goal. Corner kicks were also in favor of the ‘Cats at 3-2. Kara Music had four saves on the day for the ‘Cats in front of the net. 
NMU will play its final two home regular season games for 2008 next weekend. The ‘Cats face Saginaw Valley on Friday (Oct. 17) and Northwood on Sunday (Oct. 19).
