MARQUETTE, Mich. – Friday night the Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team took care of the Timberwolves of Northwood University. NMU took the match in three straight sets (25-21, 31-29, 25-17). It was the Wildcats fourth win in a row. For the season, NMU is now 12-7 overall and 7-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Northwood falls to 8-10 and 5-5 respectively.
Caryn VanBeckum had the big swing for the ‘Cats on the night. She ended the match with 17 kills in 31 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .484. Daniela Bezerra chipped in with 12 kills. As a team, NMU had 46 kills in 136 total attempts.
Madeline Ogden had 37 assists for the match. Mandie Meyer on the defensive end had 12 digs. At the net VanBeckum had three block solos as NMU had four total on the night. The ‘Cats had four block assists as two each went to Katie Twardzik and Emma Wolfe.
NMU will be back in action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 11) against Wayne State at 2 p.m.
