MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University hockey team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 CCHA) will host two games in the Superior Cup this weekend to open up the 2008-09 regular season. The Wildcats face the Huskies of Michigan Tech on Friday (Oct. 10) and the UM-Duluth Bulldogs on Saturday (Oct. 11). Face-off both nights is set for 7:35 p.m.
There will be a Blue Line Luncheon on Friday beginning at 11:45 a.m. in the Peter White Lounge. The cost is $8.50 per person.
Volleyball (11-7, 6-3 GLIAC) will host Northwood on Friday night (Oct. 10) at 6 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 11) the ‘Cats face Wayne State at 2 p.m.
One more home event is on the docket. The women’s cross country team is hosting the U.P. Championships at Al Quaal. Running gets underway at 3 p.m.
Football and soccer are on the road this weekend as both teams are looking for wins. The NMU football team (1-4, 1-4 GLIAC) travels to the Motor City to take on the Wayne State University Warriors on Saturday (Oct. 11) at noon. Soccer (7-6, 3-4 GLIAC) will look to rebound from the overtime loss to Tiffin. The ‘Cats are at Grand Valley State on Friday (Oct. 10) at 4 p.m. After a day off the ‘Cats will kick-off against the Ferris State Bulldogs on Sunday (Oct. 12) at noon.
