MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team had little trouble of taking care of the Dragons of Tiffin University Saturday afternoon at Vandament Arena. NMU won in three straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-14. With the win the Wildcats improve to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Tiffin falls to 10-9 and 1-8 respectively.
Three ‘Cats had 10 or more kills for the match. Mandie Meyer garnered team-high honors with 13 kills. She had 23 total attempts and a hitting percentage of .435. Daniela Bezerra and Caryn VanBeckum each had 12 kills. As a team, NMU had 49 kills in 87 total attempts (.391 percent). Most of the assists on the kills came from Madeline Ogden as she had 37.
Cassie Osiecki was deadly with the serve as she had five service aces. NMU as a team had seven service aces for the match. Rebecca Feuerherd had a team-high seven digs.
The ‘Cats will be at home next week for two matches. First up is a Friday encounter with Northwood (Oct. 10) and then on Saturday (Oct. 11) it will be against Wayne State.
