HILLSDALE, Mich. – Friday night the Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team ventured into Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South territory. The match took a little bit over an hour as the Chargers took care of the Wildcats in three straight (24-26, 21-25, 23-25). With the loss the ‘Cats drop to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in the GLIAC. Hillsdale improves to 12-4 and 4-2 respectively.
Katt Garvick was the lone ‘Cat with 10 or more kills on the night. She ended with 10 in 19 total attempts. As a team NMU had a hitting percentage of .145 percent with 38 kills in 110 total attempts. Madeline Ogden had 29 assists to lead the team.
NMU was deadly with the serve as the ‘Cats registered 11 service aces. Garvick, Caryn VanBeckum and Breanne Zaremba had three service aces each. Zaremba also led the ‘Cats on the defensive front with 13 digs. Picking up 10 digs each were Cassie Osiecki and Mandie Meyer.
At the net the ‘Cats had five blocks for the match. NMU had one block solo and four block assists.
NMU travels into Ohio to take on the University of Findlay Oilers tomorrow afternoon (Sept. 27).
