Soccer Drops One Goal Game

MARQUETTE, Mich. – For the third game in a row the Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team lost by a 1-0 score. Today it was the Ferris State Bulldogs who scored the lone goal of the contest. With the loss the Wildcats drop to 4-5 overall on the season and 0-3 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The Bulldogs improve to 3-3 and 2-1 respectively.
Ferris scored its goal early in the game (3:19) which held up for a little over 86 minutes. Megan McCabe knocked home the ball for the score. Shots were almost even as NMU had one more for the game at 10-9.  NMU had six shots in the first half and four in the second 45 minutes.  The ‘Cats had all the corner kicks for the game at four. Ferris did not have a corner kick on the day. 
Kara Music between the pipes had four saves. Of the first nine games on the schedule NMU has played eight at home. The ‘Cats are now 3-5 at home.
Four of the next six games are on the road for the ‘Cats. Next week NMU is at Saginaw Valley State (Sept. 26) and Northwood (Sept. 28).
