Wildcats Have New Radio Home

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Athletic Department has partnered with Marquette's new radio station 100.3 The Point to become the new voice for Wildcat sports.  The Point covers most of the U.P. and will broadcast NMU football, men's and women's basketball and hockey games.  Ryan Beckman, the stations sport director, will handle the play-by-play duties for all football and basketball games.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide coverage of Northern Michigan Wildcat Athletics on The Point," said Kent Smith, President of WUPT.  "We believe it is our duty and responsibility as a local broadcaster to serve the community in which we do business and our new relationship with NMU underscores our commitment to the region."

Ken Godfrey, Northern Michigan University Athletic Director is very enthusiastic about the new partnership.  "We are very excited to be working with The Point.  I think it's a great opportunity and both parties will benefit by working together."

"To me, it's a no-brainer," said Chip Arledge, Director of Commotion and Product Development for The Point.  "The 'Cats are the biggest game in town and we're grateful to have the opportunity to provide live, local coverage of NMU sports.  Other radio stations can play the same songs over and over, but only one station can bring you the Wildcats.  Our coverage will set us apart," he said.
