UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Danielle Stein led the Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team during the first day of competition at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Stein finished in fifth place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 40:36.58.
NMU had two throwers place in the javelin. Angie Leckson was seventh (117-10) while teammate Callie Boik (117-01) eighth. Kyle Richards ran a 12:06.93 in the 3,000 steeplechase to finish eighth.
NMU had runners who qualified for the finals tomorrow. Danielle St. Onge with a new school record in the 100 (12.52) and a time of 25.95 in the 200 will run both events tomorrow. Jessica Trotochaud broke her own school record in the 400 hurdles (1:05.28) and will run the race again. Kaylee Laakso qualified in the 400 with a time of 58.81. NMU will have two runners in the 1,500 as Kristen Schultz (5:02.56) and Erin VanEnkevort (5:05.27) advanced. Natalie Bertucci in the 100 hurdles (15.76) qualified for Friday.
The second day will be on Friday (May 2) at Saginaw Valley State University.
